Messy Eaters

Last night at "dinnertime" I decided to let the babies just go for it, since we were planning on following eating with bathtime.
And by "go for it" I mean, that when they reached for their spoons to help, I let them have them, etc.

The boys had mashed bananas and carrots, and they each ate two teething cookies.
So, yeah.
It was messy business.
Also, they felt like this concerning carrots:

Bleh! So most of the carrots ended up on their trays, and then, of course, they tried to pick the carrots up and re-eat them.
Micah did really well with his cookies, too, since yesterday I said he wasn't as good as eating them as Grey. So he's like "watch this mom."

I love this picture of them.  Grey just wants to be near his brother.

And yes, we eat in the middle of the living room floor. What of it?

I love it. I also love that Grey wants to be by Micah. That's exactly how my girls are.

And holy cow. I'm coming to see you this week. I think I'm over this cold of death (although spending the weekend in the wilderness didn't help much) and its safe to come visit. Thursday maybe? Or possibly tomorrow? I'll email/text Travis soon!

Cute, that was fun to see, less fun to clean up. Gerber makes a teething crack that takes forever to eat and mostly they just suck on it and smear it all over and it is like cement to remove it from faces but all my babies loved it. I don't remember what they are called, I'll have to buy them when you come next.

A little hint, I used to put a plastic, flannel backed, tablecloth under the high chair at this stage of "learning how to eat", it was sooooo easy to clean up, just a damp rag or throw it in the washing machine along with their clothes. And those Gerber teething cookies your Mom remembers, me too, and they are great cuz they stay hard and don't crumble up. Very messy but my babies ate them up.

Funny how having food flung EVERYWHERE doesn't even matter when the guilty parties are so darn adorable! Great pics of some great times!

If you have a sprouts near you or probably a whole foods (we don't) there are Healthy Times teething biscuits that they are probably talking about. Vanilla flavored, hard as a rock too.

You can also make your own, I haven't tried it yet, but my mother-in-law makes them too.

"Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup dry infant rice cereal with bananas (or other flavored or
unflavored infant cereal)
3 tablespoons cooking oil
ice water

Directions:
Preheat oven 425F
Mix flour and cereal.
Gradually stir in oil. Mix a little ice water at a time (start with 1/4 cup) until dough begins to form a ball and pull away from the bowl.
Roll out to the thickness of a cracker on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 min. or until lightly brown. Cool completely.

Store in an airtight container. (you may want to try 1/2 plain and 1/2 flavored baby cereal as the taste when using full flavored baby cereal is very strong.)"
