Interviews
Sometimes I feel like I capture pictures, I capture words, and I forget to make videos. I love the way these boys talk, move, and interact- and I want to remember it!

The Little People That Live With Me
(Once I started capitalizing words in that title, I just couldn't stop.)
It's been a long time since I've shared any videos with you.
And by that I mean, like two years! So here are two cute videos of my kids from recently.
The first is so short, but freaking INSANE.
Okay, maybe not skydiving out of an airplane with a cello insane, but my 7 month old thinks he's a big kid and I am in serious trouble because he knows how to get what he wants insane.
That's a long, specific type of insanity for a movie.
The second video is a bit longer, but my favorite.
I took it a few weeks ago when the boys and I went to the park with their bestie, Elanor. I began by taking a video of August because he's so blasted cute: and then my other kids were pretty blasted cute, too.

A Year Ago
How's this for Flashback Friday? A year ago at the beginning of June, I recorded and posted this video of our family life. It's amazing what things have changed (for example, we weren't even dreaming of August yet - and now he's here!)
but mostly, things are the same. We live in the same house and spend our days the same way, the boys still pull on those same pajamas before bed - they're just a little tighter.
Hopefully I'll make another sometime, soon. It was so fun to rewatch - even though at the time, I thought it was pretty boring!

I love to see the Temple
We are lucky to live in Salt Lake, only a few miles away from the most famous and recognizable LDS temple in the world. It is extremely beautiful, and we often pass it while driving or go run around its grounds when the boys and I need something to do.
Lately, the boys have developed a total fascination with it. Every time we pass a church, anything with a tower or steeple, even haunted houses or the Disney logo, the boys yell, "The Temple! The Temple!"
And since we never had a working radio in the car until recently, we started the habit of singing at all times while driving.
Usually it's preschool songs, like "Wheels on the Bus" or "Five Little Monkeys," or children's hymns from church.
Since the boys are so into the temple, I decided to teach them, "I love to see the temple," which they now love and sing and request constantly.
It's pretty much adorable.
Here are the lyrics for those of you who don't know the song:
I love to see the temple, I'm going there someday,
To feel the Holy Spirit, to listen and to pray.
For the temple is the House of God,
A place of love and beauty.
I'll prepare myself while I am young,
This is my sacred duty.
(And for those of you who are unfamiliar with Mormon temples, here's a quick bit of info:
Mormon meetinghouses are open to anyone and are used for congregational worship (on Sundays) and community events throughout the week.
Mormon temples are used for personal worship, meditation, and covenants. They can be attended almost every day if you want to, but due to the sacred and quiet nature of the service there, Temples are only open to adult members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
We also perform our more sacred ordinances at the Temple, such as marriages. Of course, Mormons can be married outside of Temples, but we believe that the Temple is the literal House of God, and that when a couple is married there- they can be together with each other for eternity.

The hills are alive
A few weeks ago, the boys and I drove up into the mountains to pick up some friends at the end of a long hike. While we waited, we sheltered from the weather under tall trees, and sang songs about the rain.
I even added subtitles for the more difficult to understand toddler-words.
(You're welcome, it was actually pretty difficult for me to figure out.)
Sorry it's so poorly done. I guess I'm just not my film-maker husband. But the cuteness of the children makes up for it, yeah?

Digger Book
When my babies were babies I bought them a box set of books. There were First Words (Cup, shirt, kitty, girl, etc.), Colors, Animals, and Trucks.
It's funny, because my boys have gone through liking each of the books one at a time.
First they liked Animals, because it's like 20 pages of pictures of animals. What's not to like?
Then First Words, mostly (I suspect) because they liked being able to flip through the pages and yell, "Chair! Truck! Puppy!" when they saw things they recognized.
Now we're on to Trucks.
When I got the box set, I seriously thought "What a waste. This truck book is dumb. This book is for Dads who are worried that their sons are gay, so they can force them to look at pictures of machines."
I almost gave the book away.
But I couldn't.
I experience severe pain when parting from books, even stupid ones.
So I stuck it at the bottom of the boys' book basket to wait.
And two long years later, that book is the star of our household. That book is the bedtime, cartime, all the time story. It is fought over constantly. It is poured over for 20, 30 minutes at a time.
(And if you've ever met my children- or any two year olds- you know it's a BIG DEAL to sit still for that long.)
It is studied, and then copied, and about 10 times a day one of my kids runs to me holding a scribbled-on piece of paper and shouts, "A picture DIGGER, Mama!" Because he drew a picture of a digger, and I need to clap my hands and cry "Wow! That looks just LIKE a digger!"
Grey is pretty into the book, but Micah is obsessed.
Micah reads it to me every day.
And I've wanted to capture the pure nonsense, un-understandable list of trucks in the "Digger Book" as performed by Micah.
So here you go:
And, for real, those are words and I can (mostly) understand him.

A Day in Our Life
Sorry my posting schedule has been weird lately, one of my best friends was married this week and I spent a lot of time doing weddingy-things and working on her secret wedding gift (I'll post on that later this week.)
But until then, here is a video for you to watch. My sister-in-law Camille has made little videos like this several times, and I always love watching them, it's essentially a video of everything we did yesterday (Saturday.)
It was an especially good day, since the weather was perfect and Travis was home. We spent almost all day with our downstairs neighbors (as we do every day), as you can see.

Making Fools
Remember a few months ago, when we had a family reunion of sorts in Arizona, and I posted about one million pictures? Of course you do. It was for my Great-Grandpa Jim's 90th birthday party. (That's right, he's the boys' Great-great Grandpa!)
Well, here's a video from then. We finally posted it online, and the boys and I watch it every day. They're excited to point out their aunts, grandma, and Mom among the "dancers."
This dance is silly, and probably only fun to watch if you know us. We pretty much "choreographed" the entire thing late the night before, basing all the dances on made-up conceptions of the time period. And every time that we forgot who was supposed to be doing what, my cousins happily jumped in to keep everyone entertained.
As my mom so deftly put it, "Dancing well clearly isn't in our genes, but making fools of ourselves and being okay with it is."

Some Conversations and Videos
Everytime someone says to me, "What does your husband do?"
I happily jump up to the computer and show them a dozen videos by Travis. He's very good. (As good as Barry Zuckercorn? Maybe.)
But my favorite videos to show off are the ones that Travis made for me concerning the boys.
We had some friends over on Saturday night and watched these old favorites. After they left (when I had some peace to cry freely) I watched them each about 5 times more and sobbed through them.
Oh. They are my favorite. In the whole world.
When we found out we were having twins (Travis caught my reaction to the news on video, people. It's worth a watch):

When I invited my sister Mary to watch an episode of Doctor Who with us:
Mary: UGH! You guys watch Doctor Who? You're freakazoids! Only weirdos watch Doctor Who!
Me: We're not freakazoids!
Mary: You wear animal hats and tutus with colored tights!
Me: What? No, I don't.
Mary: Don't make me watch it! You're a weirdo!
When I told our downstairs neighbor about the above conversation:
Elizabeth: She's actually probably right. Those are the type of people that are really into Doctor Who. Crazy people.
Me: Yeah, maybe.
Elizabeth: The difference is that we're really invested in the story and characters and the weirdos are invested in the alien cultures and the science of time travel, and learning pretend languages and stuff. We're not that nerdy.
When I told Travis about both of the above conversations:
Travis: Oh. You're not interested in learning pretend languages?
Me: Not.... alien languages.
Travis: Oh yeah. So Elvish doesn't count. You and Elizabeth are both weirdos, just not about Doctor Who. You're Lord of the Ring people.
Me: Not to the same extent!
Travis: Okay, Didn't-wear-a-cloak-to-school.
Me: Well...
Travis: Mary's right. You guys are crazy.
Yesterday morning, I scrolled through my list of Facebook friends, deleting people willy-nilly. It was quite freeing. But then I felt guilty! I wrote a Facebook status to that extent. We had this conversation afterward:
Me: A bunch of people commented on my FB status and said, "Don't delete me!" It was funny, too, because lots of them I might have deleted. I haven't talked to them since high school or longer.
Travis: Everybody loves you, right?
Me: Yeah, it was surprising.
Travis. Oooooh, okay.
Me: What?
Travis: I see what that was. You just posted the threat of un-friending, so that everyone would tell you they love you.
Me: What?! No!
Travis: It was just another plea for attention. Poor Becky. Just wants everyone to love her.
Me: The fact that everyone DOES is just a happy coincidence.
After my blog blog {Two Years} which showed pictures of the boys over the last two years:
Travis: Oh man, that blog post was cute. [begins to force Grey into a huggle* using wrestling moves.]
Me: I know! They were so little and now they're so big!
Travis: I kept remembering the way we would hold them [pins Grey to his chest- while Grey laughs and squirms] they had this heavy weight and they'd press into your chest. We had to support their heads. [Grey pushes his feet against Travis' chest, so his body is flat and parallel to the floor] I admit, it made me kind of baby hungry.
Me: YES! And you remembered how easy it will be for us to have a baby this time, since there will only be one?
Travis: No, you crazy-pants. I remembered that we actually have two kids, so we will have THREE babies if you get pregnant.
Me: Oh right. Those other kids? Who cares about them?
*Huggle is a word combining "hug" and "snuggle," obvs. You can use it as a verb or a noun.
Like this, "I love to huggle."
Or, "Come give me a huggle!"

Wraslin'
This video is proof of so many things. Like the following:
- My kids totally can talk (you hear them say "Brother, Thank you, Blankie, Pillow, Ni-Night, Grey, Micah, Don't, Please, and NO!" in this video.... or maybe only I can understand them and all you hear is nonsense.)
- Only children are probably sad, and twins are the best ever.
- Boys are rougher than girls. There's not really proof concerning girls, but I watch this and can only assume that sisters don't playfully walk on each other's faces or jump on one another, and if they do - tears ensue.
- Moms obviously are much more interested in their kids than anyone else, because I love this video, but it's probably pretty boring to everyone else alive. Probably even my mom and husband. Sorry it's five minutes long.
The favorite "game" at this house, is not really a game. It is pretending to sleep, and also wrestling with each other (and with Travis, if he's home). It's so fun that the boys have reached an age where they really do play together and not just near each other.
You moms of twins that are littler than mine... just you wait. Things are going to get pretty awesome at your house really soon. Then you too can take pictures of your wraslin' young'uns.
Also, concerning girls: My boys have decided that they hate girls. And I think I know why:
- Girls are bossy and try to tell you what toys to play with and they try to make you share with them.
- Girls hug you when you don't want to hug, and try to hold your hand when you don't want to be touched.
- Girls cry when you shove them and step on their faces. Then you get in trouble.
Man, girls are the worst, am I right? The boys really like the little girl who lives downstairs and ask to play with her, and get excited when they see her outside, but every time she comes over it's like they remember what girls are like and they freak out. They want to push and shove her, and they really really don't want her to hug them.
Unfortunately for them, she's a hugging machine. And every time they do something mean to her, I make them hug her as punishment.

Toddler Time
These boys. They look like this:
They sound and act and are like this:
You might think that I take an excessive amount of home movies, considering that these are all from the last two weeks... but you would be wrong.
Even if these aren't all my videos from the last 14 days. Even if I have many more, and all of these videos are AT LEAST twice as long as you see them here.
So what? Not excessive. Not at all.
Also, I tried really hard to keep each clip under 20 seconds, so as to not bore you, dearreaders watchers. Except that last one, of the boys somersaulting, because seriously? IT'S SO CUTE. The video I recorded is about 5 minutes long (or longer), so you should be grateful I cut that clip down to 50 seconds. It just went on and on. (Which is probably what you thought of this video as a whole.)
Anyway. Happy Tuesday!

Missing
Travis is traveling. Ah, so what else is new? He left Friday morning and won't be back until Wednesday.
When he's gone I feel so... helpless. I can manage twins on my own. All day.
I can.
I do it every day while Travis is working, and only have him in the evenings.
And my in-laws have been taking very good care of me while he's away, and so have lots of good friends.
But it gets emotionally draining, too! I need him.
At least he's only in California and we have phones and skype, and texting pictures and videos.
But's it's not quite the same.
Our house is much cleaner when he's gone, because once the boys go to sleep, I have nothing to do for hours.
But we eat really poorly when he's gone. I don't have anyone to restrain the boys at dinnertime, so I can't really cook, and frankly, my kids like a big bowl of peas and rolls for dinner as much as anything. So we eat that.
So many little things fall by the way side.
Prayers with the boys are hard. Lately we've been trying to kneel down with them, but of course, it's pretty much impossible to do that with two boys and only one lap (they refuse to share my lap).
So I say a prayer, while standing over them, drinking their bottles, and it usually goes, "Please, please, please help them sleep through the night. Please keep Travis safe, well, and happy..." and then I cry because I miss him and am highly pathetic when he's gone.
He likes to say, "This is what you signed up for when you married me."
To be fair, I didn't think that I would have twins. Being left home alone with one baby is probably (maybe?) hard. (Okay, I'll be honest, one baby seems like a freaking piece of cake.)
But twins? Twins is hard.
Especially when you're missing a husband.
But at least I have really cute twins, who do adorable things like this:
I don't know what I'd do if I was stuck with boring, ugly babies. :)
When he's gone I feel so... helpless. I can manage twins on my own. All day.

Friday Film FESTIVAL!
Nope. Just home movies. But all those words start with F, so I got excited.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Video overload
As you may know, I recently had a very expensive surgery to have my hand replaced with an iPhone. It's lovely, I spend about a third of the day staring at it, or typing and talking into it.
And the rest of the day (that's 16 hours a day, folks) I spend recording videos of my children.
"Where are those videos?" you bellow.
"Ahh. Here they are," I say, calmly. "Why are you freaking out? Geesh."
Let's begin with the happiest home movie you've ever seen: Babies laughing hysterically at their dad:
Grey drinking from a cup:
Babies in the bathtub:
The babies playing and walking and discovering that they can fit behind our couch:
And that's all.
"But Becky," you say, "you promised us a video overload and this is only a reasonable amount of videos. Encore, encore!"
So pushy! But fine. Here's one more for you. :)
Here are some things you might be thinking, which you should keep to yourself: Becky's voice is weird. Becky makes boring home movies. Why does she keep saying "Please be soft with your brother" and "Such a good walker!"
Here are some things you might be thinking, which you should share with the whole class: Those babies are the cutest, smartest, funniest ten-month olds I've ever seen! I can't believe how well they walk! They should be on tv, because these videos were not at all boring!
