A hat! I knit it!

At our house we have lots of single mittens. One baby bootie. A third of a Christmas stocking.
And one very impressive Gryffindor scarf.

Let's just say that I love to knit, and I love to get ideas for new knitting projects, and I am not super awesome at completing said projects.
Not to mention that all of the adorable baby projects that I am completely gaga over will be grown out of / stained / accidently shrunken about two minutes after I finish them (if I finish them at all).

So when my summery desire to listen to the Harry Potter books and knit hit me, I forced myself not to buy more yarn... *Ahem.* Okay, fine. TWO skeins of yarn. Are you happy? It barely counts. They were on sale, people.

Anyway. I mostly didn't buy yarn, and I definitely didn't buy any needles... (for myself).  I told myself that every time I wanted to check my Instagram or Facebook, I would knit for five minutes instead. So if I was absorbed on the couch, ignoring my children, and zoning out of the real world, at least I would have something to show for it.
AND BOY, DO I.
I have an entire HAT to show for it.

And even though it's a bit too big (I'm hoping it will fit the boys through two winters), and the ears curl up and are a little goofy... I am totally obsessed with how great it is.
And every time people come over, I make them admire it.  And since you're not here to admire it in person... here are TEN pictures of it, so you can be impressed.

This hat is for Grey (Micah's is half-way done, too!), and Grey has done a very good job appreciating it. In fact, we were outside in billion-degree weather all afternoon yesterday, and Grey insisted on wearing his hat the whole time!
It was so cute.

I can't wait until fall, when I'll break out the converse shoes and cardigans again.

My favorite thing about this hat? I feel like it looks like it was knit by Mrs. Weasley, and in case you're wondering: Mrs. Weasley is a good example of the type of mother I want to be. Warm, loving, tough, excellent at cooking, and very good at raising boys into brave, happy, good men.

Anyway. What do you think? Are you impressed by this hat OR WHAT?

okay, okay all right already - it's not too bad, a little wonky but it is finished. The stars in the hat are impressive and it looks so cute on the boys that who cares if the ear flaps stick out funny, their Mom made it and it will make them happy to wear it. And the more you practice the better you will get.

I am impressed beyond belief. I don't know how to knit and I am impressed you sought out this skill I have avoided it because it looks hard. Good for you! It looks awesome so adorable and I am in love with your model!

I am super intimidated by knitting in the round...I just don't know how to do it. This hat is amazing.

Also...H&M has some adorable little boy cardigans in their store right now. I bought some for my son and I am dying for fall to come.

I too strive to be a mother like Mrs Weasley, who wouldn't?!? Cutest hat, can't wait to see pics of them both with their little hats on.

Love the hat! You know you can steam press it to suck in the edges, right? I have washed and shrunk wool ones in the dryer too, but that would be too extreme. Have you seen the darling wool purses you can make and shrink? They look almost felted and are so sweet! Skies the limit girlie! It is good to achieve things that are not instant. Mrs. W would be proud!
