Home again, home again

We are home.
And I will write a better and more full update at naptime, but I wanted to thank everyone for your love, prayers, emails and phone calls. I'm pretty sure all that praying is what got Grey home so quickly.
We still don't know what's wrong, but doctors are pretty sure that his joints were swelling up as a result of an ear infection, and that hopefully as the ear infection heals, he will start to be able to walk again. Poor Grey.
Until then, he sits in the middle of an island of toys, watching his brother run around and steal whatever he has.
He's not used to holding still, he's been mobile for over 6 months, but he still doesn't quite understand the concept of sitting and watching a movie.
I just can't stop praying and thanking God it's not worse.
I was steeling myself to hear "cancer".
We're going to stall the boys birthday party, for anyone wondering. Hopefully next week will be a happier one and throwing a party t the end will seem like merriment not added stress.
Oh,and if you're wondering why this post has so many typos... Im writing on my phone.
Xoxo,

how babies look

This is how my babies look when they don't have any tubes or wires hooked up to them.
And they are dressed in their own clothes.
And swaddled in blankets that Grandma made.
And they are waiting for their dad to come back with their car seats so they can leave the hospital.

And they are weighing in at 6lbs 2 oz and 5lbs 10 oz.
Baby-sized.

I'll post more pictures tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday, but until then, I will go out to my living room where the babies are lying swaddled next to their dad and he is playing Dr. Mario on the Ninetendo, and I will eat a bowl of cereal and look at my sweet babies.

Home

We are taking our babies home.

TOMORROW.
Tomorrow morning!

We are taking our babies home tomorrow morning, unless something goes very wrong during the night and our sons forget how to eat.

But that will not happen.

Because we have the best little eaters ever, now that they've gotten the hang of it.

And with a mama who eats like I do (man, I love food) it's not surprising.

Oh, and they're both about 6lbs these days.
And growing.
And adorable.
And their hair is already much longer.

Look at how cute they are:
Micah is in the front. This is from a few days ago, and their cheeks have only gotten chubbier since this picture was taken.

And they'll be even cuter snuggled up in their own bed for once.

Car seats are for babies

At our hospital all preemie babies and all babies which are admitted to the NICU (and our boys are both) have to pass a "car seat test" before they can go home.
Which means they must sit for 90 minutes in their car seats and not suffocate.
(Because they're so small, they tend to fall forward a bit, with their chin on their chest -which can cut off their air supply).

Today the doctor said, "Time for their car seat test."
Which means we're oh, so close.
In fact, the boys had their feeding tubes removed this afternoon and all they need to do now is prove that they can eat all their meals via Mama.

So we're back in the hospital, so they can call us down to the NICU when the boys are ready to eat.

We could be home by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Let me rephrase.
Ahem.
We will probably be home by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Wednesday will be their 38 week mark, if I were still pregnant.
Yikes. I could have two more weeks of pregnancy under my belt and another two to go if they weren't born until full-term.

Oh, and they both passed their car seat tests.
A+
