Daddy Book

As you may remember, there is a favorite parent at our house and it is not me.
The boys love their Dad so much, but he has to travel about a week out of every month - sometimes taking long trips for 2 or 3 weeks at a time. They have such a hard time with it!
Last time Travis left, someone suggested I make the boys a little book to look at about how Daddy has to go to work.
I started putting together ideas, and soon I had a full-fledged picture book on my hands!
The book is an 8x8" hard-cover, 20-page book printed off Shutterfly. I had a coupon for a free book, so this baby only cost me shipping! Yeah!
What do you think? It's become one of our favorite bedtime stories.

Daddy's Boys

I got married to my favorite and my best. And lo and behold, three and a half years later - he has two perfect little clones running around.
If any man is going to be cloned, it should definitely be this crazy-haired man. And these boys are three of a kind, and I don't just mean their blond hair, blue eyes, and miles of legs.
If they picked out their own clothes (which all of them do, sometimes) they would choose sweats (or jeans, if they must) and a hoodie every day. If they could choose the way to spend an entire day, it would be snuggled up together watching cartoons and playing video games or riding their bikes in the sunshine.
If they got to pick their own foods, it would be a combo of fresh fruits, sandwiches, and junk food. Oh, and milk! Did I mention milk? Before the boys were born, Travis and I went through 2-3 gallons of milk A WEEK. Just us.
Now we go through 5 or more! I don't know what we'll do when Grey and Micah are teenagers!

Every morning, when Travis leaves for work, all of us stand at the door and whine. Actually, the boys usually cry and sob and beg, "Daddy! Daddy! No!"
It must be nice to be the very favorite person in the entire house. He's my favorite. He's the boys' favorite. (But, I mean... what's not to love?)
Throughout the day, every 15 minutes (or less) Micah asks, "Daddy?" and I say, "Daddy is at work."
Unfortunately, being a small business owner means that Travis works 6 (or usually 7) days a week most weeks, and he usually works really long days.
But the best, nicest ever, most favorite days of the year are the days that we get to spend together. A Daddy and his boys.
Oh man, they're cute.
And next week we're going on a trip to AZ together and I'm FREAKING OUT I'm so excited! We get to see lots of my family, and (perhaps even just as exciting!) we'll get to see the sun. THE SUN! It's still a thing, right?
The boys can wear hoodies instead of winter coats every day! Or maybe, not even hoodies!? CAN THAT BE REAL?
And we get to spend all day together and with my grandparents and great-grandparents!
I'm pretty dang psyched.
And you should get psyched too, because while I'm gone, you're going to get some super awesome Guest Posts, including one by Jed Henry, the author of the book "Cheer Up, Mouse!" which book you can still enter to win!

Babies' Choice Awards

There is a favorite parent in our home.
And it is not me.
Babies sick and crying, babies up in the middle of the night, babies with cuts and bruises are not interested in mama. They want daddy.
And frankly, I am only too happy to oblige.  Because usually that means that Travis is the one who gets zero sleep on sick-baby nights.

And since I get snuggles all day long from babies, I know just how nice they are.
These pictures were edited with Snuggling Babies and Baby Grey (BW) from HoneyBee Actions.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Video overload

As you may know, I recently had a very expensive surgery to have my hand replaced with an iPhone. It's lovely, I spend about a third of the day staring at it, or typing and talking into it.
And the rest of the day (that's 16 hours a day, folks) I spend recording videos of my children.
"Where are those videos?" you bellow.
"Ahh. Here they are," I say, calmly. "Why are you freaking out? Geesh."

Let's begin with the happiest home movie you've ever seen: Babies laughing hysterically at their dad:

Grey drinking from a cup:

Babies in the bathtub:

The babies playing and walking and discovering that they can fit behind our couch:

And that's all.
"But Becky," you say, "you promised us a video overload and this is only a reasonable amount of videos. Encore, encore!"
So pushy! But fine.  Here's one more for you. :)

Here are some things you might be thinking, which you should keep to yourself: Becky's voice is weird. Becky makes boring home movies. Why does she keep saying "Please be soft with your brother" and "Such a good walker!"
Here are some things you might be thinking, which you should share with the whole class: Those babies are the cutest, smartest, funniest ten-month olds I've ever seen! I can't believe how well they walk! They should be on tv, because these videos were not at all boring!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Dad Travis

"Dad Travis" is what I call this guy:

He's my favorite dad, Travis, and person.
Ever.
I love him.

He's out of town again and it makes me sad.
